There are a number of options for car rentals in Nicaragua, all the major chains are based out of the airport. In San Juan del Sur, we have 2 major chains with offices. If you really want to get around in these areas, a 4×4 vehicle is required. Yes, they are expensive but once you actually arrive and drive around, you will understand why (maintenance). Please be aware that many car rental companies do not open on Sundays and some care rental companies out of the airport to not open till 6 am.

- Classic Cruisers – There is a nice fellow who rents out what I call Vintage Toyota Jeeps. Price is $55 a day with a 3 days minimum and $350 a week. Pictures coming soon.
